Cosmetic Dentistry is a specialty that focuses on improving the overall appearance of your teeth. This may be in relation to the shape, colour, position or size of your teeth.
What does a dental check-up and clean involve?
Your dentist will check over your teeth and gums and look at the overall health of your mouth. You may require an x-ray which is a very simple procedure that you won’t even need to leave the chair for. Any plaque and tartar build up will be removed and your teeth will be cleaned and polished to have them looking their best. Your dentist will give you advice on ways you can improve your dental and oral hygiene to maintain
your smile. If there is anything that requires further attention, your dentist will consult with you regarding your options.
How long will my check-up and clean take?
Your appointment will take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the amount of plaque and tartar build up. Regular check-ups will mean the duration of the appointment remains short.
How often should I get a dental check-up and clean?
To keep your teeth pearly white and healthy, we recommend you arrange a dental check-up and clean at least every six months.
Do you offer children’s dental check-ups?
Yes! Starting positive oral hygiene habits early is important to ensuring long-term oral health. Having regular dental check-ups for your child can also help prevent development of dental phobias and anxiety.
What if I have a dental phobia or anxiety?
At Cairns Dental Anaesthetic Centre, we are passionate about working with you to minimise your anxiety around your dental appointments and treatments. If your phobia is especially bad, we can even offer sedation.
